GED test prep at Mountain Point Academy is an online, self-paced course that gets you ready for all four subjects of the official GED® test: Mathematical Reasoning, Reasoning Through Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. You start with a placement exam, so your course skips what you already know and focuses on what you don’t.
Every course starts from your placement exam results, so your study time goes where it’s needed.
Mountain Point Academy prepares you for the GED test. We don’t issue the GED credential; the official test is scheduled and taken through GED Testing Service.
The GED test has four subjects. You can take them one at a time, in any order, and you need to pass all four to earn your credential.
Algebra, geometry, and quantitative problem-solving.
Reading comprehension, grammar, and written responses to texts.
Reading and reasoning with scientific information, data, and charts.
Civics, U.S. history, economics, and geography.
GED prep fits learners who want a recognized high school equivalency credential and a flexible way to get ready for it.
A note on age. In Utah, you must be 18 to take the GED test. Sixteen- and 17-year-olds can test only after formally withdrawing from the public school system and completing eligibility forms through a state-sponsored adult education program. Other states set their own rules.
Prep time varies based on your starting knowledge and goals.
We’ll explain the placement exam, answer your questions about the GED, and help you decide on next steps.
You register, pay for, and schedule the GED test through GED Testing Service at GED.com, one subject at a time. You can test in person at an authorized testing center or online from home.
In Utah, online test-takers must first score “Likely to Pass” on GED Ready. In-person test-takers don’t have that requirement. Expect ID checks and timed sections either way.
You only retake the subject you didn’t pass, not the whole test. For in-person testing, GED Testing Service allows two retakes with no waiting period; after a third unsuccessful attempt, there’s a 60-day wait. For online testing in Utah, you get one retake before a 60-day wait applies. Other states set their own online rules.
Because your course lets you repeat concepts as many times as you need, you can go back to the specific skills that held you back before your next attempt.
Pricing depends on the course and exam you choose, and online test prep is far more affordable than private, in-person tutoring. We offer flexible tuition options and walk you through costs during your free consultation.
Utah Fits All Scholarship. Utah families with a K-12 student may be able to use Utah Fits All Scholarship funds for test prep, which is one of the scholarship’s approved expense categories. Students must not be enrolled in a public school district when funds are awarded.

It depends on your starting point and how much time you can put in each week. Your placement exam shows how much ground you need to cover, and the test-out option means you don't spend time on material you already know.
Four: Mathematical Reasoning, Reasoning Through Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. You can take them one at a time and in any order.
Yes. GED Testing Service offers the test online and at in-person testing centers. In Utah, you'll need a "Likely to Pass" score on GED Ready before you can test online.
Eighteen. Sixteen- and 17-year-olds can test after formally withdrawing from the public school system and completing eligibility forms through a state-sponsored adult education program.
You retake only that subject. In-person testers get two retakes with no wait, then a 60-day wait after a third attempt. Online testers in Utah get one retake before the 60-day wait.
No. A high school diploma reflects completion of a full course of study, while the GED is an equivalency test. Passing the GED in Utah earns the Utah High School Completion Diploma. If you'd rather earn a full diploma, we offer accredited diploma programs too.
GED Testing Service offers accommodations for documented disabilities, and you request them through GED.com before scheduling. During prep, self-paced study and the test-out option let you set a pace that works for you.
