Online ACCUPLACER Test Prep

Self-paced ACCUPLACER prep for college placement, guided by a dedicated Academic Mentor.

Online ACCUPLACER test prep at Mountain Point Academy is a self-paced course that gets you ready for the college placement tests in reading, writing, and math. You start with a placement exam, so your study time goes to the skills that need it most. A dedicated Academic Mentor checks in with you every week, and tutoring is available on request.

Key Takeaways

Before You Start

ACCUPLACER is College Board’s placement test. Colleges use it to match you with courses at the right level, and no one passes or fails it.

The test is computer-adaptive, so each answer you give sets the difficulty of the next question. In most cases there’s no time limit, though the school or test center giving the test confirms the rules.

Your school decides which ACCUPLACER tests you take and what scores place you into each course. Ask for that list early, because it tells you exactly what to prep for.

What the ACCUPLACER Covers

The multiple-choice reading, writing, and math tests are each scored from 200 to 300. WritePlacer, the essay test, has its own scale.

Who This Is For

What's Included in Our ACCUPLACER Test Prep Course

Here’s what every ACCUPLACER student gets:

Two Things We Don't Do

  • We don’t give the ACCUPLACER. Your college or an approved test center schedules the test, handles any testing fee or voucher, and shares your scores.
  • We’re a school, not a clinical program. We don’t offer therapy, counseling, or diagnostic services.

How to Prep for the ACCUPLACER

Start with your school. Find out which ACCUPLACER tests you need, the placement scores for the courses you want, and the school’s retest policy.

Next, find out where you stand and put most of your time into the test with the most room to grow. Prep for the format, too:

  • Take your time. With adaptive questions and, in most cases, no time limit, a careful answer is worth more than a fast one.
  • Practice math without a handheld calculator. Some questions offer an onscreen calculator, but you can’t bring your own unless it’s an approved accommodation.
  • Read the score band descriptions. College Board’s Skills Insight statements describe what students in each score band can typically do, which helps you aim for a specific band.
  • Plan for test day. Bring a valid photo ID, and ask your test center what else to bring and whether you need an appointment.

How to Start

  1. Book a free consultation. Share your test date, your school, and your goals with an Admissions Specialist, and we go over fit and cost.
  2. Take your placement exam, which opens your course.
  3. Meet your Academic Mentor, who sets goals with you and plans backward from your test date.
  4. Start coursework, with weekly check-ins and progress reports.
  5. Schedule your ACCUPLACER with your college or test center. If you need accommodations, ask the school about its process well before test day.

Tuition and Payment

Flexible monthly plans, no hidden fees. We go through cost with you on your free consultation, and you can review tuition and enrollment anytime. Any ACCUPLACER testing fee is handled by the school or test center that gives the test.

Utah K-12 residents can apply Utah Fits All Scholarship funds here. Students must not be enrolled with a public school district when funds are awarded, and the program administrator sets the rules, which can change.

Utah K-12 residents may be able to use Utah Fits All Scholarship funds, and any ACCUPLACER testing fee is handled by your school or test center.

It depends on where your placement exam puts you, how many tests your school requires, how many hours a week you can study, and when you plan to test. Your Academic Mentor builds your plan backward from your test date and adjusts it at weekly check-ins as you progress.

No, we prepare you for it. Your college or an approved test center schedules the test and shares your results, and you can also request your scores through College Board's ACCUPLACER Student Portal. Your mentor can help you pick a test date that leaves enough prep time.

No one passes or fails the ACCUPLACER. It's a placement test, so your scores decide which courses you start in. How challenging it feels depends on your current skills, which is why our prep starts with a placement exam that shows you where to focus.

It depends on your school and the course you want. Reading, writing, and math tests are scored from 200 to 300, and each college sets its own placement scores, so a 260 can place you into a college-level course at one school but not another. Check your school's placement chart, and your mentor can help you plan.

In most cases, no. College Board says the tests have no time limit, and the school or test center giving the test confirms its rules. Because the test is adaptive, it's worth taking your time on each question instead of rushing.

Yes, if you have documented accommodations. Contact the school or test center giving the test well before test day to learn its process. On our side, your Academic Mentor can plan your prep around the supports you've been approved for.

College Board offers free official practice tests once you create an account, downloadable sample questions, and free ACCUPLACER Perspective learning exercises. Our course adds a placement exam, lessons built around your gaps, and a mentor who keeps you on schedule.
