Self-paced ACT test prep built for the current ACT, guided by a dedicated Academic Mentor.
Online ACT test prep at Mountain Point Academy is a self-paced course that starts with a placement exam. From there, you build a study plan around the skills that need the most work. A dedicated Academic Mentor checks in with you every week, certified teachers design the coursework, and tutoring is available on request.
The ACT changed in 2025. The enhanced ACT moved to online testing in April 2025 and to paper in September 2025, with shorter sections and fewer questions.
Science is now optional and no longer counts toward your composite. Study guides built around the old four-section format are out of date, so check which version a resource targets before you spend time in it.
The ACT now has three required sections, English, math, and reading, and your composite score is built from those three. Science and the writing essay are optional. The core test takes 125 minutes before any optional sections.
Required. 50 questions in 35 minutes, covering grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and rhetorical skills. Counts toward your composite.
Required. 45 questions in 50 minutes, from pre-algebra and algebra through geometry, functions, and statistics. Counts toward your composite.
Required. 36 questions in 40 minutes on reading comprehension, main ideas, and interpreting what an author says and means. Counts toward your composite.
Optional. 40 questions in 40 minutes on interpreting data, research summaries, and scientific viewpoints. Feeds the STEM score, not the composite.
One essay in 40 minutes, reported as a separate score. Each section is scored 1 to 36. Question counts and times are from ACT for the enhanced ACT.
Source: ACT. The enhanced format launched for online testing in April 2025 and for paper testing in September 2025. Each section is scored 1 to 36.
Skipping science shortens your test day. Some colleges may still want to see a science score, so check with the schools on your list before you decide. Your Academic Mentor can help you plan either way.
Every student gets the same core structure: a placement exam, targeted lessons, and a mentor who keeps the plan moving. The course adjusts to what you already know, so you don’t have to relearn material you’ve mastered.
Start with your test date and the schools on your list. Knowing the scores those schools expect, and whether they want science, tells you what to prep for.
From there, find out where you stand, put most of your time into the sections with the most room to grow, and practice under test timing before test day. Steady weekly study usually beats last-minute cramming.
Prep options range from free practice questions to live classes and private tutoring. The right fit depends on how you learn and how much structure you need.
Look for a course built for the enhanced ACT, one that starts from your actual skill level, and some form of accountability so self-paced study doesn’t stall. Ask what’s included and what costs extra before you commit.
Flexible monthly plans, no hidden fees. What you need varies, so we go through cost with you on your free consultation. ACT registration fees are paid to ACT separately.
Utah K-12 residents can apply Utah Fits All Scholarship funds here. Students must not be enrolled with a public school district when funds are awarded, and the program administrator sets the rules, which can change.

It depends on where your placement exam puts you, how many hours a week you can study, and how far away your test date is. Your Academic Mentor builds your plan backward from your test date and adjusts it at weekly check-ins as you progress.
No, we prepare you for it. You register for a test date, pay the test fee, and receive your scores through ACT, usually through a MyACT account. Your mentor can help you pick a test date that gives you enough prep time.
Not always. On the current ACT, science is optional and doesn't count toward your composite, which comes from English, math, and reading. Some colleges may still want a science score, so check with each school on your list before you register.
It depends on the colleges you're aiming for. For the class of 2025, the national average composite was 19.4, according to ACT's national profile report. A 27 is well above average, while a 17 or a 14 is below average and leaves room to improve with focused prep.
Yes, if you qualify. ACT approves accommodations after a school official submits the request through ACT's accommodations system. Requests are due by the regular registration deadline for your test date, so start early.
Every student gets a dedicated Academic Mentor who meets with them weekly. One-on-one tutoring is available on request when a section needs more help than the coursework gives. We'll go over tutoring options and cost on your free consultation.
